SV-001: Census and Wellness Checks
Description
Capital Area United Way (CAUW), is committed to a complete an accurate census count in Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties. Now more that ever, our neighbors need a friendly voice from their community checking in on them. These calls will be a combination of census reminders and wellness checks, however, they focus more on the census aspect. You must be at least 18 years old to sign up for this opportunity.
Volunteers will be calling individuals from a database using their own phones or a Google Voice account to ask if residents of these counties have completed their 2020 census. Interested volunteers should feel comfortable speaking on the phone with people and answering questions. Thorough training materials and information about how to set up specific accounts will be provided once a Criminal Background Check (CBC) has been processed and the volunteer approved to begin.
Background checks are required for this opportunity and take a few days to be processed. To complete a CBC, you will need to register for this volunteer position and then download the "SV 001 Next Steps" document that will appear once you've registered. This document contains the hyperlink to the CBC form. Simply follow the CBC instructions and make sure to fill out all necessary information in a complete manner.
Once approved for the position, you will be emailed the training materials (~1-2 hours of training). If you would like, you can go through the training with Sophie Morin via a Zoom session. This can be scheduled at the time you would receive training materials.
Please contact Joni Risner, j.risner@micauw.org, or Sophie Morin morinsop@msu.edu, if you have any questions.
